Amazon owner, Jeff Bezos, recovers from the seabed two rockets that launched APOLLO
11’s historic 1969 mission to the moon

Jeff Bezos has found two of the F-1 engines that were used to launch the Apollo 11 into space.
The team Bezos hired found and recovered the engines – but have  so far been unable
to confirm which missions they were used on.  Apollo 11 carried the first Moon landing mission.
The F-1 engines were used on the Saturn V Rocket that carried the Apollo 11 out of the atmosphere towards the moon.
Jeff Bezos described the engines as ‘a modern wonder’ that had 32 million horse power and burned 6 ,000lb (2,720kg) of rocket-grade kerosene and liquid oxygen per second. “I was five years old when I watched Apollo 11 unfold on television, and without any doubt it was a big contribution to my passion for science, engineering, and exploration,’’ he wrote confirming that he had found the rockets.

‘’We don’t know yet what condition these engines might be in – they hit the ocean at high velocity and have been in salt water for more than forty years. On the other hand they’re made of tough stuff, so we’ll see.’’
