One fatality in level crossing accident, Athelney, Somerset
The crash took place at around 6:00 GMT on the Stanmoor Road crossing on the line between Taunton and Castle Cary.
Initial reports implied the barrier was lowered and the driver attempted to swerve around it in order to cross when the train hit, causing their mortality.
None of the 45 passengers on the train are thought to have been injured in the collision and the train has not been derailed.
We interviewed Isca students who were on the train at the time of the collision on their way to BBC Radio 1 in London.
